You can extend an assignment deadline by changing the Due Date in the Assignment Editor. However, this should only be done if students have not yet submitted their answers. Once a student has submitted their answers, you will need to create an extension for each student who requires additional time.
There are two main ways to add or edit an extension:
Through the Assignment Editor (discussed in greater detail here)
Through Manage Grades (Grade Manually)
Adding/Editing an Extension Through Manage Grades (Grade Manually)
Follow these steps to add or edit an extension:
On the Class Management page, find your assignment.
Click on the vertical ellipses (three dots) or click on the assignment name to open the assignment menu
Select Manage Grades (Grade Manually)
Select the student's name from the leftmost column and click Create.
In the pop-up window, make any necessary date and/or time adjustments, similar to the process used in the Assignment Editor.
Click Save to save the extension or Cancel to exit without saving.
Note: The "Timed Assignments" section at the bottom of the pop-up window in step 5 will only appear if the assignment is configured to be timed (typically for exams or quizzes).
After Saving the Extension
Once the extension is saved, the details will appear in the Manual Grading Screen.
From here, you can:
Edit the extension by clicking on Edit.
Delete the extension by clicking on Delete.
If the assignment is timed, you can also reset the student’s timer.
The process for resetting the timer will be covered in more detail in a future section LINK
