The Manage Grades (Grade Manually) area displays the student's grade report and allows the instructor to modify grades, create extensions, reset problem attempts, or assess student responses to open-ended questions.
To access this feature:
- Find your assignment on the Class Management page
- Open the Assignment Menu by clicking on the vertical ellipses or clicking on the assignment name
- Select Manage Grades (Grade Manually)
This feature can also be accessed from View/Manage Class Grades or View Grades (Spreadsheet). Clicking on any student's grade will open the Manage Grades (Grade Manually) area.
The next screen displays a basic grade report, providing the instructor with a detailed view of the problem the student encountered (including any randomized variables), the last answer submitted, and the grade the student received.
You can expand this screen to view more details, such as the correct answer, submission history, and grade summary, by selecting one or both checkboxes in the upper right-hand corner.
- Show Correct Answer checkbox - When checked, this checkbox displays the correct answer next to the final student answer in the grade report.
- Expand Submission History and Grade Summary checkbox - When checked, this checkbox expands the grade report to show all submitted answers, any hints or feedback the student used, and any deductions applied (including late work, when available).
- Grade Change area - This area allows the instructor to modify a student's grade for a problem (or problem part) by entering a number between 0 and 100 in the grade box or using the up/down arrows. You can also add comments regarding the grade change, though these are optional. After making changes, click the Apply Grade button to save. A highlighted notation will appear on the grade report when a grade has been edited.
- Reset Attempts button - This button resets the problem (or a specific part of the problem) for the selected student. When clicked, a message box will appear (as shown below). To proceed with the reset, click the OK button. To cancel and exit without resetting the problem, click Cancel.
- Create an Extension - allows you to enter an extension for a student by clicking the Create link. More information about creating extensions is provided in Link
