Assignment Weight

Modified on Tue, Jul 23, 2024 at 2:03 PM

The weight on an assignment can be set in one of two ways.

  • Set an assignment weight by typing a number in the Assignment Weight field between 1 and 999.99.  By default, all problems have a weight of 1 and they all count equally, but the individual problem weights can be changed as needed.  The schema in Expert TA is that of a standard weighted average.  The average is calculated by summing each problem grade times the weight and that sum is divided by the sum of the weights.

  • Use the sum of Problem Weights as the Assignment Weight - clicking on this checkbox will automatically sum the weights set for each problem to be the Assignment Weight.  As you can see in the image below, the assignment weight is slightly grey.  The ability to change the assignment weight while the sum is active is restricted to changing the weight on individual problems or unchecking the sum problem weights checkbox to manually set the Assignment Weight.
