Warning: This setting can be somewhat tricky. Please read this section carefully before making a selection.
This setting allows students to receive notifications indicating if their answer was correct or incorrect.
When enabled, the students will see notifications after each submission attempt that their answer is correct or incorrect. When an answer is incorrect the notification will let them know if feedback is available, unavailable, or if they have used the allotted attempts for the question.
When disabled, the students will see a notification that their answer was saved successfully.
Note: Students can continue submitting answers if they have submission attempts available but only the last submission is graded. This means that a student could enter a correct answer in one of their submission attempts but if it was not their last submission they would not receive full credit.
The Indicate if Submission is Correct settings are related to the Access to Correct Answer settings. The confusion generally occurs when one of these settings is enabled and the other is disabled causing a different student experience than the instructor expected.
- If Indicate if Submission is Correct and Access to Correct Answer are both disabled:
- students will receive notifications that their answers were saved successfully
- the I give up! button is disabled (grayed out)
- grades will not be published to the grade spreadsheet for anyone until the End Date for the assignment has expired. The instructor can see grades immediately by going to the Manage Grades (Grade Manually) area, but if they want to see it in the spreadsheet format they will have to wait until the End Date has expired or edit the End Date so it has or will expire sooner.

- the correct answer area shows "Not available until end date" message in place of the correct answer, but the correct answer will never be displayed because Access to Correct Answer was disabled.
