This feature allows you to send messages to your class that display when they open an assignment or view a specific problem in the assignment. Messages can also be sent to a specific student(s) as well.
To add or manage assignment messages:
- Find the assignment name on the Class Management screen.
- Click on the vertical ellipses or the assignment name
- Select Edit Assignment from the assignment menu to open the Assignment Editor screen
- Click on the Messages button
- After clicking the Messages button, you will see an automatic save warning. Click OK to continue or Cancel to go back to the Assignment Editor screen.
After clicking OK on the automatic save warning, you will be taken to the Assignment Messages screen.
For a list of allowed content, click on the "i" near the upper left-hand corner and pop-up window will open showing a few examples of allowed content as well as helpful links to websites for reference.
The different areas of the Messages Screen are:
- Assignment Message to Class - this message will appear at the top of the page for all students when they open the assignment. If you click on the eye icon, you will see a preview of the message similar to how your students will see it in their assignment.
- Assignment Message to Specific Students - this message will appear at the top of the page for the specific students when they open the assignment.
- Problem Level Messages - are specific reminders, suggestions, or other messages related to specific problems. All problem level messages can be closed by clicking Close in the bottom left-hand corner of the message pop-up.
- Can Dismiss - this means the student will have an opportunity not to see the message after the set number of views. When available, the student will click the Do Not Show this Again checkbox to dismiss the message.
- Cannot Dismiss - this means the message will always appear for that problem, but the message can still be closed by clicking Close in the lower left-hand corner.
- Can Dismiss - this means the student will have an opportunity not to see the message after the set number of views. When available, the student will click the Do Not Show this Again checkbox to dismiss the message.
This is an example of how the students will see these messages in their assignments.
Students can also click View Messages, to see all messages in a new tab. This makes it easy for them to reference while working on their assignment.
